A classic, I know. I’ve been venturing out and listening to a little bit of all their albums but it really does always come back to her. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) will always hold my heart.

What is it to Burn

This album does not get the recognition it deserves. I will forever have gender envy because oh to be a suburban 17 year old boy in 2002 who lives purely off of Monster energy drinks, cigarettes, and the dream of his garage band making it big so he can get out of his hometown. He is who this album was made for.

BUDDY

3 STARS

I think I’m unfairly judging this one simply because I always had a vision of creating a “dark lost episodes of a lighthearted 90’s TV show” horror movie and someone else beat me to the punch. I love this concept. I love that it feels like I’m sitting through full episodes of an innocent show from start to finish until things get dark. There are a few aspects of the execution of this concept that I would change to make it more eerie and I could spend hours talking about them (and may or may not have ruined the movie for my boyfriend during the drive home by bringing up the studio lighting being too cool in some scenes or what music would have been better during others.. sorry honey.) But overall, it’s 2026 and original horror movies are SO back. Thank GODDDD.

The one biopic I think Anthony Bourdain would not despise. As much as I love consuming any piece of media I can possibly find about him, I have one issue with everything up until Tony: HE SPENT HIS ENTIRE CAREER ACTIVELY TRYING TO NOT LET PEOPLE GLAMORIZE HIM!!! And for pretty much the first time, a director respected this wish. This movie humanizes him. It shows the little messy asshole he was when he was my age and it made me feel even more connected to my biggest inspiration of all time. Five stars, no notes.

This is the most 2007 sci-fi thriller movie out of any movie to ever 2007 sci-fi thrill and I mean that in the best way. There’s something so right about the obnoxiously blue color-grading, the absurd special effects, and Cillian Murphy’s hair and we couldn’t recreate it if we TRIED now. I loved it. I was confused 90% of the time because I didn’t understand any of the technical jargon or what was going on with the antagonist (leaving it at that because I’m not one to spoil movies duh) but I was just so excited to be along for the ride.

    I honestly haven’t been drawn to many recently-published fiction lately, but this one got me good. A story of love, self-discovery, the music scene in the early 2000s, and a LOTTTTT of good song recs. 10/10 what more could I ask for?

    I’ve discovered a newfound love for nonfiction recently. (I never thought those words would come out of me wow) This book has an incredible way of making you want to immediately put it down, get up off your ass, and make something, anything. It’s a not-so-gentle reminder of all the ways resistance butts its nosy little head into the lives of any form of artist, every single day. This book should be required reading for anyone looking to embark on any sort of creative endeavor.

    This is my first Clarice Lispector book and I could not be more excited. I’ve been meaning to get into her work for months now after seeing a few excerpts online. Her way with words is so inspiring that even the first paragraph of this book made me contemplate the complexities of human existence. I know that the second I’m able to sit down and begin this book I won’t be able to move until I finish it
